„Re-Telling an exhibition - why do we choose to tell a story (in space) a second time?“ lautet der Titel des Workshops von Dr. Nirith Nelson, Dozentin an der Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, Kuratorin zahlreicher Ausstellungen zur Gegenwartskunst und Direktorin des 'Residency Program' am Jerusalem Center for the Visual Arts, in dessen Rahmen die Kuratorin die Frage nach den Gründen, warum Ausstellungen rekonstruiert werden, aufwirft. Nirith Nelson thematisiert kritisch eine aktuelle Tendenz in der kuratorischen Praxis, die – orientiert an einem Kanon relevanter historischer Ausstellungen – den Blick in die Vergangenheit statt in die Gegenwart und Zukunft wirft. Dabei wird Nirith Nelson auch ihre eigene umfängliche kuratorische Erfahrung einbringen.
Nirith Nelson, curator, resides in Israel. Has earned her BA and MA from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem in Art History. Since 1998 on, she is a faculty member at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, teaching curatorial practices and co ntemporary art.Worked at the Israel Museum as a lecturer and as a curator (for 9 years) headed the JCVA residency as its artistic director (for 14 yrs), was the art adviser to the Jerusalem Foundation (for 14yrs) and worked in several other institutions.
In those frames as well as an independent curator, curated nearly forty exhibitions both in contemporary art and design, which were shown in Israel and abroad. She has initiated and was involved in exemplary social community enterprises and programs (see wikipedia entry). An avid art and design admirer, who is in constant contact with the artists and art scene in Israel and in the world.
Der Workshop richtet sich besonders an Studierende der Kunstwissenschaft, Architektur und der Bildenden Kunst. Kurssprache ist Englisch. Begrenzte Teilnehmer*innenzahl, Anmeldung unter: rebecca_petri[at]yahoo.de
