Miriam Amelung, born in 1984, lives and works as a product designer in Kassel.
She studied furniture design at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. During this time she finished internships at the Dutch Studios Tejo Remy and Rene Veenhuizen and Makkink and Bey.
Since 2011 she has run the studio Aust & Amelung with the designer Sebastian Amelung, where they develop furniture, spatial concepts, and exhibition architecture. The studio cooperates with national and international clients such as the company COR Sitzmöbel and the Italian manufacturer COVO.
Her products are part of the permanent exhibition at the Design Centrum Klience and the Shanghai Museum of Glass, and have received awards such as the Interieur Kortijk 2010 Grand Prize, the German Design Award in Gold 2013, “best of” Design Plus 2014 from the German Design Council and the iF design concept award 2014.
Miriam Amelung is also active teaching in art schools, giving workshops as part of the educational campaign “Entdecke Design” by the German Design Museum Foundation.
Since 2018 she has worked as an artistic associate with Prof. Lutz Pankow in the Product Design program.
