Bostan, Ayzit

Professorship for Design of Textile Products

The artist and fashion designer Ayzit Bostan was born in Ankara in 1968 and has lived in Germany since 1972. After training as a seamstress, she trained as a pattern maker at the Meisterschule für Mode Munich. While there she came out with her own independent label.

For many years Bostan has moved at the intersections between design and art, between exhibitions and the fashion industry. She does not present new collections at fashion shows, but as performance, videos, and installations in galleries and museums, such as the MMK Frankfurt, BQ Berlin, Goethe-Institut Tokyo, and the Kunstverein München.

From July to October 2012 her installation “Replika” could be seen at the Hofgarten in Munich. She has acquired teaching experience through workshops at the University of the Arts in Berlin.

For her handbag "Ayzit 3" (Bree) she has been awarded prizes such as the IF Product Design Award and the DDC Silver Award Product Design.
