Lisa Dreykluft studied Visual Arts at the Kunsthochschule Kassel and the Bath School of Art and Design, United Kingdom.
Her works have been shown at festivals like the International Women’s Film Festival Dortmund | Köln, Thresholds Performance Festival, Düsseldorf, or Elles Tournent, Brussels, and at exhibition venues such as the CAA ART MUSEUM, Hangzhou, Kasseler Kunstverein, or panke.gallery, Berlin.
The artist examines formats for moving images that circulate online as central apparatuses of social communication and image production. In her works in the fields of video, installation, performance, and text she takes up a variety of these formats and interrogates them in the context of capitalist and neoliberal mechanisms for possible readings that call into question the existing concepts of health, success, and productivity. Ideas of magic and the paranormal often play a role in her stories about the uncanniness brought about by the capitalist system.
Since 2019 Lisa Dreykluft has been directing the media art exhibition Monitoring at the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival.
