d14 Sessions #5

The future of Europe as a present. During this session students are invited to make a present together. A present for the composer Fredric Rzewski in the form of a recorded conversation. Rzewski is an expert in melding voice and music, and his 1974 composition Attica will be used to tune in to a conversation in which special guest Irena Haiduk, founder of the non-aligned oral corporation Yugoexport and teacher at Northwestern University, will also be present as “a voice and nothing more.” As a way of shifting to the night, we toast the future of Europe.

d14 Sessions is a series taking place each Friday during the summer semester 2016 with Kunsthochschule Kassel and documenta 14. Open only to students, sign up is required for this session at Kunsthochschule Kassel Südbau/Raum 2310, on Monday from 4–5 pm. The Night Shift is an intermittent program of nocturnal activities exploring how the body responds to the shift from day to night and back to day. It is open to the public.
