crossfading | bodies: digital echoes, analog shadows

Annual exhibition of the Graduate School of Moving Image at the Kasseler Kunstverein.

The exhibition crossfading | bodies: digital echoes, analog shadows reflects realities of life in digital-analogue interactions. Researchers from the Graduate School of Moving Image (GBB) explore hybrid fusions and the inescapable sediments of our contemporary times. They show how visual research and artistic practice can intertwine with scientific discourses and illuminate social developments in complex ways. The exhibition will be accompanied by artist:inside talks and a catalog release.

The Graduate School of Moving Image: Analog Realities, Digital Materialities was established in 2020 as a pilot project at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. The GBB develops the third phase (i.e. postgraduate, after an MA, Magister or equivalent artistic degree) at the Kunsthochschule and spans the field of the moving image between games, animation, video, new media and film. Artists, designers and filmmakers come together here to discuss their research projects. Together they realize public presentations and self-designed workshop formats.

crossfading | bodies is the annual exhibition of the Graduate School for the Moving Image, which presents the projects of the participants as a series under the title GBB_edits and is also the final exhibition for those who end their two-year participation in the GBB.

On display are works by Laura Därr, Katrin Esser, Anna Ilin, Geeske Janßen, N.B. Spiders and Sarah Veith (in collaboration with Alisa Kossak & the other gods). The exhibition is curated by Adrian F.H. Waschmann.
