Art History and Aesthetics on the move ...

Master's students (Art History and Aesthetics, Kunsthochschule Kassel) learn about organizational structures at various art academies in Germany.

'Kunstakademien der Gegenwart' is the title of an art studies seminar (led by Prof. Hemken) in which Master's students explore the concepts and structures of various art academies in Germany. Weimar, Cologne, Leipzig, Berlin, Düsseldorf and Braunschweig are at the center of these viewings. These days, the students visited the Academy of Media Arts Cologne in Cologne and the Academy of Art in Düsseldorf. Not only was it possible to gain an impression of the work being done there by visiting the current tour in Düsseldorf, but also to talk to students and lecturers from both academies: With Prof.in Lilian Haberer and Prof. Mischa Kuball (both Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln) and with Prof.in Martina Dobbe (Kunstakademie Düsseldorf), the importance, self-image and experience of art studies at an art academy were discussed in particular.

The talks will be continued in the coming months at the art academies in Weimar, Braunschweig and Leipzig.
