With the exhibition "There's the river, you've got the bucket!" we would like to look back on 20 years of teaching by Prof. Hendrik Dorgathen. The illustrator, who has won numerous awards, became Professor of Comics & Illustration at the Kunsthochschule Kassel in 2003.
He has always been instrumental in the success of the Comic & Illustration class and with this exhibition we would like to present a selection of his graduates from recent years to honor his influential work in the class.
The central goal of the exhibition is to question and negotiate this supposedly two-dimensional medium by using comics and illustration as an articulation and negotiation of popular culture, thus encouraging diverse views and perspectives of comics and illustration. Comics and illustration open up to a kind of play space in the joint exploration of social, cultural, and political references. "There's the river, you've got the bucket" aims to promote diversity in artistic expression and engagement with social issues.
The exhibition presents a wide range of internationally and nationally successful artists:inside. Among the exhibitors are renowned illustrators who have collaborated with well-known companies on a global scale. Their works have been published worldwide and have earned them numerous awards, such as the Max-und-Moritz Prize.
