Since January 2022, the three designers of the graphic design class Henning Roye, Chiny Udeani and Can Wagener have been working intensively on the visual preparation of the Ausstellungshalle of the Kunsthochschule Kassel and have developed an experimental design research project. Instead of a classic visual identity, they developed an individual concept for each exhibition and tested a variety of visual and formal languages.
The exhibition "Ein Jahr Halle Gestalten: Grafikdesign für die Ausstellungshalle der Kunsthochschule Kassel" offers a retrospective of the period from January 2022 to the beginning of 2023, showing the content and formal exploration that underlies the design of posters, postcards and digital announcement formats. Under the supervision of Professor Rebecca Stephany (Graphic Design class) and in collaboration with curatorial volunteer Defne Kizilöz and the AG Ausstellungshalle, a total of nine exhibition announcements were created. In addition, the typeface "Halle digital" was developed especially for the hall.
During the exhibition, insights into the design process are offered, including discarded ideas, revised designs, and a printed PVC tarpaulin that was printed especially for this exhibition. The construction site scaffolding, which serves as an exhibition display, symbolizes Roye, Udeani, and Wagener's process-oriented approach and also refers to the exhibition hall as a place of constant change.
