Byung-Chul Han speaks of a "flight into the image" and of the fact that the imagined and the striving for the more beautiful and better is constitutive, i.e. essentially determining for evolution. According to this, man pursues ideas; or in other words, he builds objects according to images; and in this chain, the images hurry ahead of the objects.
At the same time, modern ethics already warns against a prevailing practice of self-realization. Modern capitalism as a maw of wanting and having nourishes a striving for perfection. But is wanting and having a condition of being - "I am, therefore I want"?
The new thing is the anxiety-inducing insight that society may be too devoted to itself. But are the foundations of such claims sound? Do people who are fixated on the self show a bad example of a modern society? And where is the line to pathological illness?
The works are understood as analytical propositions that serve different media and tend to be fractured.
