Lecture Teresa Borasino at the Kunsthochschule

On Thursday 10 June 2021 from 10.00h to 13.00h artist and researcher Teresa Borasino is giving a Zoom-lecture for the seminar Art Practice and its Significance within the program Mehrdimensionale Strategien at Kunsthochschule Kassel.

Born in Peru, living and working in the Netherlands for more than a decade, Borasino's work, often made in collaboration with architects, academics, and other fellow artists examine the impact of climate change on our immediate surroundings. The wide range of projects Borasino engages with, crossing the boundaries between art, design, and activism, propose site-specific manifestations translated as performance, dinners, actions, or events where the public is invited to participate actively. In 2016 she initiated with others Fossil Free Culture NL (FFCNL), a collective of artists, activists, researchers, and critics creating disobedient art to end oil and gas sponsorship of cultural institutions in the Netherlands to terminally erode the fossil fuel industry’s legitimacy.

Teresa Borasino’s contribution is the sixth lecture of the seminar Art Practice and its Significance, a series of talks by artists who have unique experiences of initiating collaborations with different groups inside and outside the institutional art world. This seminar is organised by artists Matthijs de Bruijne and Cecilia Vallejos together with the students of Mehrdimensionale Strategien and hosted by the Fine Arts Department of Kunsthochschule Kassel with the financial support of the Botschaft des Königreichs der Niederlande.

Art Practice and its Significance is open to art students and scholars of different departments of the University of Kassel and other young art practitioners interested in these types of new approaches to art creation.
