Rosa Aiello offers studio visits for students of the Kunsthochschule Kassel.
As part of DokfestForum, artist Rosa Aiello will present her film Hope for the Best on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 6:30 pm, at the Fridericianum.
Rosa Aiello’s film works encompass a range of styles from animation to documentary collage to cinematic narrative. She takes an experimental approach and gathers material from what is at hand, in her domestic space, in her relationships, on her habitually used streets. She is interested in observing structures, social constructs like the family, and the built world of architecture and city infrastructure. For Dokfest Forum, she has put together a selection of her experimental documentary works which deal with forms of human interaction: from attention to control, exchange to fantasy.
Rosa Aiello (b. 1987 in Hamilton, Canada, lives and works in Berlin) studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt, Oxford University and McGill University in Montreal. Her works have been shown in numerous solo exhibitions and screenings, including Kevin Space in Vienna (2022), Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt (2019), Galerie Drei in Cologne (2023), Southern Alberta Art Gallery in Lethbridge (2018). She has also been involved in group exhibitions and screenings at Kölnischer Kunstverein in Cologne (2022), Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan (2017), ICA in London (2017), Stadtgalerie Bern (2020), High Line Art in New York (2016), SculptureCenter (2015), among others.
As part of a cooperation between the Fridericianum and the Kunsthochschule Kassel, artists of the event series FF - Live im Fridericianum will offer studio visits for students of the KhK. In November there will be two studio visit days. On the one hand with the artist Rosa Aiello on 15.11.23 and on the other hand with the artist Pallavi Paul on 16.11.23. Students of the KhK have the opportunity to reflect on their own art with Rosa Aiello and/or Pallavi Paul in individual timeslots.
