Workshop on the future of the foodlab at the Kunsthochschule Kassel.
Originating as a student initiative in the field of product design, the foodlab has been addressing topics and events related to the culture of eating and dining for 10 years.
We want to rethink the foodlab as a working, teaching and research platform and space. Many study programmes at the Kunsthochschule and the university relate to and deal with topics of food (systems), nutrition, table and eating culture. We want to invite everyone – students, alumni, teaching staff, supporters, friends, hosts – to join in the dialogue. We are questioning the future of the foodlab: How can we combine design and art practices with food (culture)? What topics do we want to investigate? Which disciplines do we want to collaborate with? What formats and experiments should be created (projects, seminars, dinner events, talks, books, performances, gardening, activism, tastings)? Which actors do we want to work with? And last but not least: What role do we want to play as designers and artists in an increasing food crisis?
In the evening workshop experiment: The future foodlab, we would like to exchange ideas together.
